“The Asian Grandmothers Cookbook” published this month
This month Sasquatch Books is releasing “The Asian Grandmothers Cookbook,” a first for Seattle-based freelance food and travel writer Pat Tanumihardja.
Tanumihardja, whose cultural background is Indonesian and Chinese, is a passionate food writer who has been published in Coastal Living, Saveur, Seattle Magazine, Seattle Metropolitan and Sunset, among others.
The cookbook, she writes, “is a compilation of family and homecooking recipes from across the Asian smorgasbord, the idea being that grandmothers are the closest link we have to our cultures and traditions. It’ll also contain anecdotes and stories about family, food traditions, grandmothers, mothers and aunts. I envision it as a way to preserve traditional recipes for future generations.”
She is holding a cooking demo and book signing on Saturday at the University Farmer’s market. For details or to see who else from AAJA is going, go to our Facebook page.
