Come celebrate the Year of the Rabbit and Cat with the Seattle chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association at the iconic Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience, located in the heart of Seattle’s Chinatown-International District. We invite you to dress up for this sit-down dinner event. This is the first in-person Lunar New Year event since the pandemic started and we can’t wait to see you all! Get tickets here

What is Lunar New Year?

Lunar New Year is an important and widely celebrated holiday across many Asian communities and cultures. Celebrations include large community festivities as well as in-home gatherings with extended family. Because the celebration is timed according to the lunar calendar, timing of the holiday varies year to year. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 8 million people in the U.S. celebrate the Lunar New Year.

This Lunar New Year marks the start of the Year of the Rabbit per the Chinese zodiac tradition and the Year of the Cat per the Vietnamese calendar.

The Health Protocols

This will be a mask-optional gathering and encourage you take a COVID test beforehand, follow best health practices and be respectful of people’s varying comfort levels and needs for space.

How should I get there? Where should I park? 

There are multiple parking options near the Wing Luke Museum in the Chinatown-International District, including street and paid lots. We encourage you to take public transit if possible. Click here to for a parking map, or visit www.wingluke.org/visit. The museum is on the bus line to and from downtown Seattle via bus routes 7, 14, and 36. The Link Light Rail Chinatown-International District station exits onto S King Street or S Jackson Street approximately 4 blocks west of the museum.
